To bigmoney594: you can come into the auction…you just need to have a dealer license to bid on the cars…
To TheGoebigs: For someone who “works” at the auction…you need to be careful of what you post…once you put it on the net…you can’t take it back. I would consider this a friendly warning…. -

dear Lipton group, if you page up & look under The Marketing Group you will see some one talking about a 2 week course they took. My comment was based on what he/she said.

re: 2 week course, waste of time & money
What are you talking about ?
To become a licensed auctioneer in most states these days, a person MUST graduate from a recognized auction school. There are state laws that make this mandatory.
Some of the biggest names in the auction business (on the national level) went to the same auction school I attended, when they first started out as auctioneers.
Have you ever even heard of the NAA ?

the fees float. For xample, last week one of the cars I bought in the mid to upper teens my buyers fee was $310. If I buy a cheap car it’s less, if I pay up it’s more. Same holds true for selling. Please note, no one will learn this business in a 2 week course, forget it, waste of time & $. To learn this business it’s takes years of working with a pro in the business.

Just curious…. How much does Manheim charge the SELLER and the BUYER ?
How much do they charge the SELLER, when the car does not meet the reserve bid ?
I went to auction school a few years ago. Two-week course. With my 3rd shift job, I’m hoping to get a part-time day job, a couple days a week, working at Manheim.
Auctions are a lot of fun….
I imagine Manheim manages to make a lot of money, a lot of other ways – in the auction business as wel, besides just the sales.

FYI, I’ve been buying & selling at MAA for years. It’s a great place to do business plus it’s my 1st choice in regards to the car industry. Please note, an $8,000 profit, it’s more like $800. OMG, if I make a $2,000 profit (which isn’t often) it’s a homerun. If someone/anyone wants to buy vehicles at MAA they are best served if they hire a pro that is at every auction & knows every auctionteer plus knows MMR like the back of his hand. I’ve been told I wear that hat.
