Selling a car on ebay?

I put my car up on ebay last night. 4 hours later someone did the Buy it Now and closed the auction. The person had an account for one day with a zero rating, and closed his ebay account right after he bought my car (so now I can’t rate him if he screws up). I said that the buyer has to pick up the car. I live in PA and the buyer lives in CA. He said that he’ll send me a cashier check and he wants me to take it to a shipping agency for him. Would you sell it to him? The whole thing seems really shady to me….
I haven’t sold anything on ebay before, only bought. Yeah, I guess I’ll get rid of the Buy It Now, and add the deposit.

The Cashier’s check is probably a fake check. He will most likely want you to deposit the check, then when the funds are availlable, pay the shipper, and give him the rest of the money back. (He will mail you a check for a very large amount) However, federal law states a bank can only hold a check for 1-4 Business Days, but a check takes 7-8 business days to clear the issuing bank. By this time, your money will be gone.

I see this in my line of work almost every day. Don’t fall for it. Check out http://www.fakechecks.org, sponsored by the United States Postal Service.

No definately not, I placed my bike on ebay & someone from the usa bought it (im in uk). He had nil feedback, & once he bought it he closed his ebay account.

He sent a cheque and said after three days I was to take out £3000. and send it to his shipper. The cheque never cleared, and I never heard from him again.

    So dont do it.

that’s why most sellers expect a $500-$1000 paypal deposit immediately and balance due at pickup. a scammer won’t risk his real money

just contact ebay to let them know your circumstances and they’ll refund your sell fee or let you re-list at no charge

    and add the deposit stipulation!

    http://autoferret.net/selling.php?said=2226

they will also submit your listing to Google cars, and keep it listed till it sells, all for free, plus you can post up to 20 photos, and they will also match your car to a buyer in your area…
All for FREE, cant beat that, Good Luck…
